Proverbs 1:7-9, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom… Hear, my son, your
father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching;
indeed they are a graceful wreath to your head and ornaments
about your neck.”
Psalm 78:4,
“…tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and
His strength and His wondrous works He has done.”
The Youth
Ministries of Grace Chapel, just like the Children’s Ministries, exist to be an extension of the personal,
spiritual effort that we trust and pray parents are giving at
home. Our goal is to offer resources and activities that
reinforce Biblical truths which have special application to
young people during a time in life when they are experiencing
the most noticeable physical, emotional and social changes. Our
desire is to help teens consistently seek God’s Word and His
Spirit for direction to weather those changes effectively.
Our ministry to teens includes the following:
-
Sunday School classes
meet from 10:45 to 11:45 AM and emphasize inductive and
expositional study of Scripture. For junior high students
(7th & 8th grades), 2 separate classes are
offered, one for boys and one for girls. Ninth and tenth
grade students are combined into one class, while 11th
& 12th grades are combined in another.
-
“Sword Club” is the identification of our youth group, whose name
is taken from Ephesians 6 and Hebrews 4, “… the sword of
the Spirit is the Word of God.” An active ministry
to both junior and senior high students, Sword Club meets
for weekly Wednesday night meetings (from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.) which include
enthusiastic worship & praise singing, stimulating group
interaction, and a strong emphasis on application-oriented
study of God's Word. Visit the Sword Club's teen
website at
www.gracechapelchurch.info/swordclub.htm.
-
Monthly social activities
are a means of strengthening the unity that all believers
share in Christ, while offering an opportunity to reach out
evangelistically to other young people outside our church
family.
-
Periodic serving opportunities
allow teens to understand their place in the Body of Christ
and grow in their individual giftedness. Sometimes a
service project involves the whole group, such as when we do
outdoor work or offer child care for members & friends of
our church family, or when we minister to the residents of
one of several local nursing homes. Some tasks can be
done individually, such as serving in the nursery, helping
with VBS recreation or with custodial work.
-
Winter and summer student retreats
emphasize personal growth and discipleship. And summer
missions trips allow young people to consider God’s call to
be ambassadors of truth to a spiritually needy world.
