Acts 1:8,
“But you shall receive power when the Holy
Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and
in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
The mandate of
God to the church is to be a witness of the person and work of
the Lord Jesus Christ. The church is to carry this out in the
individual lives of the members as well as a collective effort
of the local church body. Acknowledging that this work cannot be
accomplished by man’s self effort, Grace Chapel relies on the
Holy Spirit for power and wisdom to carry the message of God’s
grace in Christ to a world of people needing to know Him. It is
His power that God has promised to us as we testify of the life
and work of Jesus Christ on behalf of sinners. The message of
Jesus dying on Calvary’s cross, suffering the wrath of God for
sinful men, and rising from the grave to conquer death, is a
life changing message that God has commanded the church to take
to every part of the world. This responsibility is carried out
in ever-widening circles of influence.
-
Strategically, our “Jerusalem” would be our neighbor closest
to us, be that our own personal family (husbands, wives,
children, parents, natural relatives) or the person living
next door to us or on the other side of town. It is the
closest community of people to us with whom we live and work
and play.
-
Our
“Judea” work envisions a wider circle of influence, such as
the surrounding towns and villages and counties in which we
have numerous ongoing contacts on a daily, weekly or monthly
basis. The "Jerusalem and Judea" aspects of our outreach
ministry gives Grace Chapel the most immediately personal
and individual opportunities to witness the person and work
of Jesus Christ to others.
-
Our
“Samaria” work seeks to address our nation as a whole,
involving a greater level of cross-cultural and life-stretching experiences, in which we may be personally and
physically involved, and in which we send and support
others. This may include inner city work, major and minor
ethnic groups, professional sports teams, camp work, etc.
-
Our
“remotest part of the earth” outreach involves sending
missionaries around the world to reach into areas that
stretch far beyond our immediate influence. These
missionaries are an extension of Grace Chapel into the “dark
continents” of the world, former communist countries in
Eastern Europe, post-modern countries of western Europe,
countries dominated by Roman Catholicism, Islam, Hinduism,
and every other form of paganism developed by man.
Through
personal involvement and a network of several missionaries,
Grace Chapel is committed to carry out this mandate through a
variety of ways, but always involving the ministry of the Word
of God, recognizing our dependence on God’s Spirit and Word to
change lives.
