Proverbs 22:6, “Train
up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will
not depart from it.”
The Children’s Ministries of Grace
Chapel exist in order to support and encourage parents in the
shepherding of their children by offering various resources and
quality programs that will help them to grow in their knowledge
of, love for, and obedience to Jesus Christ. The following is a
breakdown of the various ministry options available:
-
Nurseries for Newborns
through Age 2 are available during every church
service. Our nurseries are staffed by parents, grandparents
and ladies who love children and love the Lord. We seek to
show the love of Christ by the tender care and
lovingkindness we show to these little ones.
-
Sunday School Classes
begin with the 1 year olds and continue through 6th
grade. They meet during the Sunday School Hour of
9:30-10:30. We currently use Great Commissions Publications
in Preschool through 6th grade classes.
-
2nd Sunday Sing
is a song time for ages 5 through 6th grade which
meets in the Auditorium from 9:30-9:50 before Sunday School
on the second Sunday of each month.
-
Children’s Church is an
option during the Worship Service for children ages 3
through Pre-Kindergarten.
Children’s Church is designed as a Christian Pre-School;
trying to teach those things that prepare a child for
Kindergarten but from a Biblical perspective. The quarterly
units of study include: Animals, Colors, Numbers and
Community Helpers. Teachers are on a 6-week
rotation.
-
Junior Church is an
option during the Worship Service for
children in Kindergarten and First Grade. These children
join their parents for the beginning of the worship service
and then are dismissed to their class prior to the sermon.
Children are encouraged to participate in the worship
service by singing, listening and looking, for they will be
asked questions about the service when they arrive at
class. The studies in Jr. Church include: Books of the
Bible, Character Qualities, Bible Characters from A-Z.
We do not provide classes after 2nd grade but
encourage parents to hold their children accountable for
joining in the worship service, taking notes on the sermon,
answering questions on the way home, etc.
-
Sunday Evening is a time
for all children (age 3+) to meet with their church family
and experience singing, praying, greeting one another
and hearing the Word together. During the winter
quarter we often have small group studies for all ages
called Growth Groups in which children have special
classes.
-
Wednesday Night Bible Clubs
meet from 7-8 pm during Adult Bible Study and Prayer
Time. There are 5 classes of Bible Clubbers and each class
has their own Bible studies. These classes are less formal
than Sunday School with learning centers, Bible review
games, drama and other creative ways of reinforcing God’s
Word. Each class also has 10 Bible Memory Verses during the
school year and those who learn their verses are privileged
to visit the Memory Store at the end of the year.
-
Vacation Bible School is
held during the 3rd week of June from 9:00 to
11:30, Monday through Friday. Classes are
provided for ages 4 through 8th grade. An
opening skit, singing, snacks, recreation and crafts
accompany and reinforce the daily Bible lesson.
